Another hurdle cleared!
I am so excited to share with you the results of the Rural and Critical Lands Board meeting on Thursday, June 8. Following consideration of the due diligence, board members voted unanimously to support the purchase of the Cherry Hill Parcel for use as a passive park. Interested parties spoke before the vote in support of the project including myself, arborist Michael Murphy, Grant McClure of the South Carolina Coastal Conservation League and Kevin Phillips, Port Royal Town Councilman. Mr. Phillips expressed the Town of Port Royal's commitment to maintaining the park in perpetuity and discussed the pending town proclamation to support the park. Once this proclamation has been signed, the application will be heard by Beaufort County Community Services and Land Use Committee. This partnership is critical to securing a yes vote from Beaufort County Council.
