I couldn't resist sharing this photo from Jo Murray. It's hard to find pictures that give a sense of scale to this ancient tree. We are still working hard to protect the largest and oldest tree in Beaufort County at Cherry Hill on the marshes of Battery Creek. The Rural and Critical Lands application process for purchasing this Property by Beaufort County is very promising; we may soon have a new passive park in Beaufort County.  Meanwhile, raising awareness and demonstrating community support for our efforts to preserve the natural resources surrounding the 2013 Heritage Live Oak is essential. Grassroots commitment will make all the difference when Beaufort County Council considers this purchase.

The Friends of Cherry Hill Oak will have a booth at the Port Royal Farmer's Market this Saturday, June 12, from 9am-12pm. Please stop by to meet arborist Michael Murphy and Friends of Cherry Hill Oak advocate Hope Cunningham. We look forward to meeting you, answering your questions, and sharing our progress!
