PETITION:
We the People demand that the imminent demolition of The Pink House at 60 Plum Island Turnpike, Newbury, MA be STOPPED, and that all parties return to working - to completion - on the many solutions available to keep this cultural icon, tourist draw, economic driver and artistic inspiration standing where it is, to be restored in perpetuity under a perpetual preservation restriction for it's 100th birthday in 2025.
We call on ALL elected officials to REPRESENT their constituents and step in, as they have the power to do, and ask US Fish and Wildlife Service to stop their plans to needlessly DEMOLISH this beloved cultural landmark, economic driver, tourist draw, and artist muse.
IT IS NOT TOO LATE to do a land swap or find suitable land, or have FWS made whole in some way -- and Fish and Wildlife knows this.
We call on Refuge Manager Matthew Hillman and the Fish and Wildlife to make good on their promise to find swap land (that would be "so beneficial to their mission') in return for all the steps Support The Pink House completed AND FUNDED with donor money to ready the house and create a new acre parcel to trade. Just 2.5 years ago FWS Realty Chiefs invited us into a "partnership". We did our part, and FWS did not do theirs.
Everything is in place still for the house to be traded for far more beneficial land for FWS, and to be restored by a local partner on his own dime.
Congressman Moulton, and Senators Markey and Warren's jobs DO include helping constituents with federal agencies. In this case, one letter from one of them to the DOI or FWS to ask them to stop the demo is all that is needed.
That is what your signature is asking that they do.
