The Issue

Why This Matters

For me and many others, the Hatfield Dog Park isn’t just a fenced-in area. It forms an integral part of our daily lives and serves as a vital community hub. My dog, Cody, has grown up with this park. Here, he has developed friendships with other dogs and their owners. It's a place where both pets and people form long-lasting bonds, offering more than mere recreational activities. For many of us, it provides stress relief and serves as an essential gathering space where neighbors connect and friendships flourish.

The Current Benefits of Hatfield Dog Park

The Hatfield Dog Park has multiple benefits.

1. Natural Shade: Thanks to wood chips and tree coverage, the park remains functional in various weather conditions.

2. Proper Drainage for its users: Aside from Mature Trees: Offering naturally cool areas for pets and owners, especially vital during hot summer months.

3. Established Parking Access: Ensures that pet owners can conveniently use the park without additional infrastructure needs.

4. Proximity to Existing Amenities: Allows for convenience and overall enhances the user experience.

Proposed Changes Threaten These Benefits

Plans to relocate the park pose serious risks. The proposed new location lacks essential features such as natural shade, restroom access, adequate parking, and effective drainage. Moving the park would undermine the user experience, as these elements are crucial for maintaining its high us.

Call to Action: Preserve and Improve

Instead of moving the Hatfield Dog Park, the township should consider preserving and enhancing its current site. Improvements can be made to increase its usability and community benefits without sacrificing the amenities we've come to rely on. These enhancements can include upgraded park facilities, adding restrooms, or increasing seating areas, making it a more inviting place for everyone involved.

Conclusion

The Hatfield Dog Park is more than just a park - it’s a sanctuary and a community. Relocating it would dismantle this unique environment that fosters community interaction, pet socialization, and stress relief. Preserving and improving the existing location will uphold its vital role in our lives.

Please join me in advocating for this cause. Sign this petition to urge Hatfield Township to pause relocation plans and focus on preserving and enhancing the current park location. Together, we can ensure that this cherished community asset continues to serve our neighborhood effectively. Your voice matters - please help protect this special space.

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing the “SAVE THE PARK – Hatfield Dog Park” petition. I appreciate residents taking the time to share their thoughts and concerns. I have reviewed the petition and the feedback from the community. It’s clear that the dog park means a lot to the people who use it, and the Township has heard that message. At this time, the dog park will remain at its current location. Going forward, we hope to look at ways to make some upgrades to the existing park so it can continue to serve residents and their pets even better. I always welcome hearing from residents, so please feel free to reach out anytime to share your thoughts. Thank you again for being involved in our community.
