After recent good news about health improvements the researchers at NOAA say that J17 and her 3.5 year old daughter have declined in condition. No update was provided on K25.
NOAA said they would not “intervene” but then admitted they would collect feces, breath and food scraps. That involves
noisy close approaches! And that is known to cause stress, interrupt their lifestyles and more!
The numerous previous experiments did not save J50 aka Scarlet. This included continuous extremely close boat pursuits by the Vancouver Aquarium to shoot darts into her. In 2018 her health problem was never identified! A general antibiotic was used. Impact on wild orcas can include side effects such as sickness as found in humans.
