Ailing 42 year old J17 and 27 year old K25 Looking Better!
In a March 27/19 update the Center for Whale Research (CWR) reported that J17's condition appears to be improving. J17 and K25 had been observed as being sick in recent months.
J17 was observed on New Year's Eve with a depression at the base of her skull called a “peanut head”. This shows a severe loss of weigh. CWR stated that she “... had even improved a little in body condition since December/January.” However, the CWR will remain cautiously optimistic that she will survive because her breath smelt possibly unhealthy.
Earlier in March the CWR also announced K25's health has similarly held steady and not noticeably worsened.
On March 5/19 five J Pod orcas, including J17, were observed by Lifeforce actively foraging near Comox, BC. That was also encouraging.
We started this petition to make sure that the unnecessary, harmful experiments that failed to save the dying J50 MUST NOT HAPPEN AGAIN! Please Read, Sign and Share this Petition to Stop Further Experiments on These Orcas! Over 4500 people have signed this very important Petition to protect endangered orcas. https://www.change.org/p/wilbur-ross-thesec-doc-gov-orcas-must-not-be-mistreated-like-lab-animals
