The Industry’s Pacific Whale Watch Association (PWWA) is attempting to get an exemption of the new 200 meter boat distances in Canada. They have written to the Prime Minister and Ministers on our petition asking to stay only 200 meters away from only one of the orca populations.
All orcas will now have an increase from 100 to 200 meters in Canada. Every orca populations number less than approximately 300 members. The 200 meters is still not enough as they get up to 400 meters in the US.
The US regulations also apply to all killer whales and the PWWA did not ask for or receive an exemption of their 200 and 400 yard distances for killer whales that are not Southern Residents.
The PWWA is not exempt in the US. They must not be above the laws and threaten the survival of orcas in Canada. Lifeforce has written a personal letter to the Prime Minister and other Ministers.
