The comments continue to come in from all over the world from people who care about the Northumberland Strait. People from away literally cannot believe this is even being considered as an option and tens of thousands of Maritimers have had enough. Nova Scotia deserves better, PEI deserves better and New Brunswick deserves better! It's 2018 and the money and technology is there to resolve this so all industries can coexist. Here are a few facts on why the Effluent will negatively impact the Northumberland Strait and what you can do about it : A) 70-90 Million Liters of effluent PER DAY B) Effluent temperatures of 25 Celsius in the Winter and 37 Celsius in the Summer !! The Strait is home to Cold Water Species. Lobster larvae need water temps between 10-15C. Migratory Sport Fish based their migration around water temps. C) The Effluent will be fresh water but the Strait is home to Marine species that require a certain level of salinity. D) The Effluent will contain, chlorine, dioxins, furans, metals etc that all have a negative impact on fish over time. E) The Effluent will have some discolouration to it thus impacting the clarity of the Strait. F) The Effluent will cause dead zones within the Strait. If you think any of this is wrong then please help us request a full federal environmental assement.
