Petition updateSave the NIA Center!9/11/25 UPDATE: Nia Center

The community's voice is being heard LOUD & CLEAR, stop using us to get federal money and resources and then push us to the aside when we no longer fit your agenda!

All 1100+ petition signers ROCK (850+ electronically and 275+ paper)! You signed, you've called, emailed and shown up in-person. Now the hard part.

Due to the poor building management of Metro Louisville Gov't and the absent owner, TARC, the building tenancy levels are less than 20%, with barely 10% paying rent, so getting a traditional commercial loan for a bank has not worked. We need to build our capital stack from donors, residents and organization investors and grants.

Here is the plan:

  • Raise $50,000 in the next 30 days (by October 10th) for pre-sale expenses related to legal, escrow, pre-leasing efforts and marketing costs.
  • Raise $2.1 million through donations, taking in additional investors and grant application approvals within 120 days (if TARC agrees. Right now, despite no other offers of purchase that are not willing to give us additional time to raise the funds)
  • Raise an additional $900,000 for repair of the HVAC system, security and wi-fi upgrades, and the recreation of the community space Metro Louisville Government took away (space that was opened in the evening and on the weekends).
  • Start pre-sale non-binging leasing.
  • Close 1st Quarter 2026.
  • Have a HUGE block party to celebrate!

Here's what we need YOU to do TODAY or MONDAY:

  • Please donate to our account hosted by the Center for Neighborhoods, a trusted community partner for over 50 years; AND your donation is TAX-DEDUCTIBLE!
  • Continue to call, email, or ask Mayor Greenberg when you see him WHY a conversation around the west end's Nia Center is " not a good use of his time" per his Chief of Staff and General Counsel, David Kaplan.
  • Share our petition or donation links to at least 29 people in your circle.
  • And most importantly, keep fighting with us because....we fight! We Fight! WE FIGHT! for the community and what's right.

Next Steps:

  • Get the letter of intent to purchase signed giving us 120-days for capital stack funding
  • Continue to recruit investors, apply for grants, and get donations.
  • Start our diligence to ensure we haven't missed anything with the building.
  • Continue to pre-lease the office space (at $13-17.50 sq ft) through non-binding letters of intent. Know of anyone needing space? We will share contact information next week.

THANK YOU for your support,

West Louisville Dream Team
