Friends of Beebe Spur,

We are pleased to report that in just a week over 600 of you have joined our call to save the Beebe Spur from motorized use. Last night, the Newport City Council declared its opposition to motorized use of the Spur and passed an unanimous Resolution urging VTrans and the Vermont legislature to ban motorized use by snowmobiles on the Beebe Spur.

We are on the move.

The next steps:

• We will be asking the Town of Derby Select Board to declare its opposition to motorized use of the Beebe Spur. Their next meeting is December 22, 2026 at 6 pm. We urge any and all who can attend to come to the Select Board meeting and show your opposition to motorized use of the Beebe Spur.
• We will engage VTrans and ask that it amend its regulations to ban motorized use of the Spur.
• We will be asking our area legislators to support a legislative change to ban motorized uses of the Beebe Spur.
