We now have the chance to challenge the Inspector’s decision (to approve the National Forest/Swadlincote Incinerator) in the courts. Judicial Review is our next – and only – legal route. But it comes with significant costs.
But, if everyone who signed this petition gave just £10-15, we could cover our full legal costs with ease.
Why we need your support
The first step is a Barrister’s review. If she confirms we have a case, we can then file against the Secretary of State. At that point, we become liable for up to £10,000 in legal costs if we lose. If permission to proceed is granted, the process becomes more lengthy and expensive.
Our fundraising goals:
Goal 1 (£3,000): Barrister’s review (already underway this week).
Goal 2 (+£10,000): To cover the legal cost cap if we lose.
Goal 3 (+£40,000): To cover provisional legal fees if the case goes to a full hearing.

To make things simpler, we’ve also purchased the URL, www.willshees.com, which redirects to the same donation link. Perhaps more memorable as the incinerator will be off Keith Willshee Way, Swadlincote, next to the current Willshee's facility.
Donations are processed securely, and the system allows us to refund unused funds if the Barrister or courts advise we cannot proceed.

Community Against the Swadlincote Incinerator is an unincorporated organisation. All funds will go directly towards legal and campaign costs to oppose the Swadlincote Incinerator / SRRP.
