CAMP's rebuttal to a recent Op-Ed pretending to be "news"...
This isn't the first...and, won't be the last attempt to confuse and obfuscate the issues surrounding building an $8MM bike path in a protected nature preserve.
The iconic heritage trees in the Modoc Preserve have withstood earthquakes...fires...pests...diseases...and, one of it's biggest enemies...DEVELOPERS...over the last century...
Perhaps the biggest threat to them now are efforts by nativist groups trying to eradicate them simply because of their immigration status...spreading fear...myths...falsehoods...etc...and, "journalists"...not journalists...with bias and financial motivation fanning the flames of untruths by lies of omission and the like...we've lost count of the number of conflicts of interest we have uncovered since we started defending the Modoc Preserve over 9 months ago against a destructive bike superhighway design that would have destroyed 63 iconic trees and part of a protected wetland in a nature preserve...etc...
Our bread is not being buttered by the County.
We are not part of the multi-billion dollar bike industry...we don't have lobbyists in Sacramento or Washington, DC...
We are not trying to get a job building trails...consulting...mediating...selling native plants and trees...landscape architecting...etc...
We are not trying to sell advertising with click bait...
What we are doing is everything we can to preserve the Preserve!

This environmental war is far from over...we have won some hard fought battles...but, we have to plan for our day in court before Judge Thomas Anderle on December 13th...he is fair...so, we are hoping for a positive outcome for the Preserve...
