I’m delighted to announce a significant milestone in my campaign to protect the Milton Keynes Post Office, following constructive discussions with key stakeholders yesterday – including the prospective new postmaster, who confirmed that the city centre will not lose their local branch.

This meeting came on the heels of the announcement that the Milton Keynes Post Office would be franchised by UOE – and follows my long-standing campaign to save the branch. As part of that campaign, I launched an online petition, which now has more than 2,400 signatures from local residents, which proves how valued this asset is in our local community.

I’ve been fighting to preserve our Post Office because I know just how important it is to my constituents. Milton Keynes is a fast growing community with rising demand for accessible, dependable services. Losing this vital facility would hit our elderly and digitally excluded residents hardest, as well as those who rely on face to face support. It would create barriers for the most vulnerable members of our society and diminish the support network that helps our community thrive.

I emphasised this point in our meeting, and I was pleased to hear Elliot and Jack’s commitment:

“We’re excited to be taking on the Milton Keynes Post Office and ensuring this essential service remains at the heart of the community. With our experience in delivering trusted retail and Post Office services, we’re committed to providing excellent service for local residents and businesses.”

I feel reassured that Milton Keynes will have a solution that works for both the post office staff and the people in our city who rely on its services. A huge thank you to them, and to all the people in Milton Keynes who signed my petition and made their voices heard!
