We the undersigned urge the Department of National Defence (DND) as owners of the Militia Arms Store at 11 Carleton St. in Fredericton, NB, to take immediate action to protect and restore this 1832 building (part of the Historic Garrison District, a cherished National Historic Site in Downtown Fredericton) to its original pre-fire appearance.

The building was damaged by an arsonist in March 2024 and has stood vacant and open to the elements since then.

We urge DND and the Government of Canada to repurpose this structure for uses that serve the public interest while preserving this important heritage streetscape in downtown Fredericton.
