Journalist/photographer Mary Fowles has created a captivating photo gallery of the excellent rally which appears to have brought Victoria City Hall to make a practical 180 on the Sequoia within weeks:

Note: The photo gallery won’t open without an email address provided in that field. However you don't have to use your email address to open it. You can just put in sequoiaprotectors@gmail.com as a default to open the link.

And there is more good news. In the last petition update, it was mentioned that a giant perfectly healthy tree in Cordova Bay referred to as Mother Maple was under imminent threat of removal by the District of Saanich.
The Mother Maple petition quickly garnered hundreds of signatures and it has been saved!!!

There are also two other new petitions worth signing.
A field of mature Garry Oaks in an ecologically sensitive area has come under imminent threat on Lynnfield Crescent. It's loss would be catastrophic for not only the area, but for the other regions it is linked with ecologically.
Please if you can, sign the petition to save those mighty oaks.

Also there is a new petition to ban gas landscaping equipment in the District of Saanich. Several years ago, the previous Oak Bay Council showed remarkable leadership and unanimously decided to phase out gas landscaping equipment out over a 3 and a half year period.
Now it is time for the District of Saanich to walk the walk and step up to the plate to do their part in reducing vast amounts of unnecessary pollution, noise, health and ecological problems caused by these outdated toxic fume producing machines.
That petition is open to Saanich residents:
