Hello, supporters of Save the Mickelson Pool! Here are some updates on our recent advocacy efforts.
July 22nd Peninsula Health Care District meeting
The Peninsula Health Care District held a meeting on July 22nd in which the Board directed pointed questions to Sutter Health Mills-Peninsula CEO Janet Wagner. You can see Ms. Wagner’s presentation here. In the video, she speaks from about the 10-minute mark until the 35-minute mark. Approximately 85% of that time is devoted to discussion about the therapy pool.
We have reached out to the PHCD Board with our follow-up comments regarding the meeting. We look forward to hearing from them soon and hope to work with them toward our common goal.
August 3rd San Mateo Board of Supervisors meeting
We had an excellent turnout at the August 3rd San Mateo County Board of Supervisors virtual meeting. Seven out of eight speakers during the Public Comments section were Mickelson therapy pool advocates. All spoke clearly and passionately about our cause. You can listen to our speeches here. (Begin at the seven-minute mark.)
Following our two-minute speeches, San Mateo Supervisor Carole Groom remarked that she would continue to support our efforts. We sent a thank you letter to Supervisor Groom the next day.
Press/Outreach
We continue to let our voices be heard through our many letters to the editor in the San Mateo Daily Journal. We are pleased to report that some of our letters have been published in the Mercury News as well. :)
In addition to reaching out to newspapers, we are beginning a campaign of sending letters to public officials and other pertinent entities to spread the word far and wide.
