Save the Legion Hall, Killester to be refurbished and reopened as a community hall!

The Issue

Join us in advocating for the revival of Killester's cherished Legion Hall! The Killester Garden Village Committee and our community are united in our plea to Dublin City Council or a Government Department to acquire and rejuvenate this historic space as a versatile community hall. We envision it as a hub for various activities benefiting Killester and its neighboring areas. Moreover, we propose the establishment of a dedicated heritage room within the hall, celebrating the unique history of the Killester Garden Village—a significant Irish WWI ex-servicemen housing estate. Notably, the Legion Hall stands as one of the last Royal British Legion halls in the Republic of Ireland, deserving preservation and transformation for the cultural enrichment of our community. Sign this petition to rally behind the revival of our collective heritage and the renaissance of the Legion Hall into a vibrant center for all.

The Legion Hall in Killester, Dublin is one of the last surviving Legion Halls in Ireland, its a unique hall in its heritage, history and cultural links to the Killester Garden Village being the areas community centre since 1932 in its current form. The hall has been in private ownership and derelict and neglected for over 20 years and left to rot. It needs to be reopened once again as a community centre for the community!

We could make a positive and impactful difference to the community of Killester and surrounding areas if the Legion Hall was brought into public ownership, refurbished and reopened once again as a community centre which for decades was a focal and central hub for the community of the Killester Garden Village and surrounding areas.
