Action Needed: Have Your Say on Box Hill Brickworks by 22 April
The Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) plans to cover the Box Hill Brickworks site with high-density housing—even though this is the last significant green space in central Box Hill, vital for passive open space and tree canopy.
We now have a critical window to respond.
Have your say before 22 April 2025
SRLA has released a draft structure plan and planning scheme amendment, and public submissions are open. This is your chance to speak up.
To make a submission:
- Go to engage.vic.gov.au/srl-east-structure-planning
- Scroll down and click PARTICIPATE (under the green heading)
- Click START SURVEY and follow the prompts
- When you're finished, click SUBMIT

The Box Hill Brickworks site is the last expanse of green space left for passive open space and trees in the heart of Box Hill—which is projected to double its population by 2041.
This type of parkland is essential to support our physical and mental well-being, enhance the environment, and bring the community together.
For our community—many of whom live in high-rise apartments—accessible green space is not a luxury, but a necessity. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure Box Hill’s future liveability.
I strongly urge the Advisory Committee and the Suburban Rail Loop Authority to prioritise the preservation of the Box Hill Brickworks site as dedicated parkland.
