The Whitehorse Open Space Strategy 2024 is out for public comment – until 30 August.
Council acknowledges that the draft strategy does not take into account the state government’s population projections for Box Hill, which were outlined in the 2021 Suburban Rail Loop Business and Investment Case.
The anticipated growth of Box Hill is well known and the needs of residents in high-density housing must be considered now.
We urge Whitehorse Council to see the vision and opportunity for community parkland at the Box Hill Brickworks site and to take tangible steps now, with the state government, to achieve that.
