You guys are so amazing!  Thank  you so much for supporting the koalas!  They really need us right now!  I was over the moon to see so many new supporters signing the petition to save the Braemar State Forest koalas.  We are almost at 13 500!!  You are all so awesome!!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!  It's great to know that so many people care.

I have some very good news!!  The North East Forestry Alliance (NEFA) has taken the NSW Forestry Corporation to court and has halted logging of the Braemar and Myrtle State Forests until a decision has been made.  A decision will be reached any day now.  Please everyone, cross all your fingers and toes!!

NEFA is not only protecting koalas by stopping the logging.  They are also helping other threatened species, such as the Southern Greater Glider, Yellow-bellied Glider, Rufous Bettong, Masked Owl and the Squirrel Glider.  Saving these forests is so  very important!

After most of the koalas in the Braemar State Forest were wiped out after the 2019 fires, protecting what is left of their home is urgent.  We cannot let the Forestry Corporation take most of their feed trees away.  The good news is that YOU can do something!  We all can! Please support NEFA and join their campaign.  The government  promised to protect our koalas at the last election, but they haven’t kept their word to date.  Let’s encourage them to keep their promise and protect the remaining habitat where our beautiful koalas live.

You can follow NEFA’s updates here and also sign up to their newsletter for current events and news.  You can also donate so that they can continue to do important surveys and pursue State and Federal Governments through the courts.  Every little bit counts!

After receiving a response to my letter from the government I was very disheartened.  They told me that there will be no bad effect on the koalas when they remove most of their feed trees.  We know this is not true and NEFA has scientific proof!  Thank you NEFA for fighting for what we all know is right.  We think you are wonderful and we support you all the way.

Thank you again to all the new supporters and I hope to have some more good news to share soon,

From Leila and the Koalas.
