Save The Integratron

The Issue

Dear desert supporters, let’s help save The Integratron.

The Historic Legacy of the Integratron

For three decades, the dedicated Karl sisters have lovingly tended to and preserved the magnificent Integratron, a historic landmark designated by the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service and constructed by the great George Van Tassel. Their unwavering commitment has been instrumental in upholding the serene atmosphere, architectural beauty, and pristine grounds of this iconic institution. Their tireless efforts have ensured that this extraordinary landmark remains accessible to all who seek its embrace.

A Perilous Threat

Today, we join our voices with the Karl sisters in issuing a heartfelt call to action. For the first time since 1953, the Integratron faces a perilous threat. Over the years, it has weathered earthquakes, fires, major floods, vandalism, and more, but a new menace looms. The rise of visitors to the area has also created an opening for developers who are encroaching upon the pristine desert, and their latest glamping project, the "Eco Domes," poses a grave risk, just a stone's throw away from this historic landmark. The project proposes to change rural residential zoning extremely close to the Integratron to commercial use to create six 24’ domes and a large 36’ central dome with a pool, 6 hot tubs, game areas, noisy generators (to be “off-grid”), plenty of parties and off-road vehicles. This project will impact a national historic site and is inappropriate for a residential neighborhood. It belongs in a commercial zone.

Preserving Nature's Tranquil Beauty

In the heart of the rural desert, visitors are warmly welcomed. However, it is of utmost importance to safeguard the very qualities that draw them here: the serenity of nature and its remote, tranquil beauty. Simply put, the looming proximity of the proposed 7 geodesic domes resort-style accommodations poses a dire risk. It threatens to introduce heightened traffic, light pollution, noise, and a surge in road traffic and dust. These imminent changes unquestionably threaten to compromise the exceptional experience that the Integratron offers, with its extraordinary acoustics and the enchantment of its night skies.
