Protect the Institute of Child Nutrition: Sign this Petition!
Every day, almost 30 million children count on safe and nutritious meals in schools, child care, and other settings operating child nutrition programs. Behind each meal is a trained professional who is committed to serving nutritious and safe meals, supported by the Institute of Child Nutrition (ICN).
Why This Matters?
As the only national training center of its kind, ICN provides FREE research, training, educational resources, and technical assistance to child nutrition professionals across the nation. Through these actions, ICN builds a skilled workforce and turns federal policy into everyday practice. Most importantly, ICN ensures ALL child nutrition program professionals have access to research-based resources in:
- 26 modalities (e.g., self-paced online courses, face-to-face trainings, fact sheets, videos)
- 23 topics (e.g, financial management, emergency preparedness, culinary, food safety, human resources, procurement, infant feeding)
- 13 specific audiences (e.g., state agencies, school nutrition directors, child care center directors, summer feeding sites)
Today, nearly half a million child nutrition professionals have received training through ICN’s free online educational platform.
What’s at Risk?
Congress is considering cutting ICN’s discretionary funding. If that happens, child nutrition professionals could lose:
- Free training;
- Practical resources; and
- Trusted research for safe food, high standards, and strong program operations.
Together, we can stop this. But we need your voice.
What Can You Do?
Right now, you can help in three key ways:
- Sign this petition.
- Please share it with your community and on social media.
- Call or email Congress today with this message: “Protect the Institute of Child Nutrition’s funding by reversing the proposed discretionary funding cuts.”
Stand with ICN. Stand with child nutrition professionals nationwide.
