Can you remember where you were when you first heard the news that BBC Radio Scotland had decided to cancel our beloved “Iain Anderson Show”? And how you felt. Anger. Disbelief. Astonishment. Sadness.

I was working away at my laptop when the news broke, and by the time I’d finished reading I was on Change.org setting up a petition.

And then amazing things happened. Nearly 17,000 of you joined me, and a movement was ignited.

We didn’t succeed in changing the BBC’s mind — we kind of knew that from the start.

But what we did do was light a spark in Iain and his team.

And today we can finally say it: we were successful.

Together we did save the Iain Anderson Show — just not on the BBC.

They are back. The Hesperus is out of dry dock, fully serviced, and after a couple of sea trials she’s now raring to take on her full complement of passengers, welcoming back old favourites and gaining new ones.
