Something very important just happened.
Today a coalition of music organisations representing many thousands of artists and music workers across Scotland and the UK has published an open letter to BBC Radio Scotland.
This is the strongest collective voice yet from across the UK music industry, speaking out against the BBC’s decision to cut curator-led late-night music programming - the place where 75% of Scotland’s artists had their first career-launching airplay.
The message is simple. Scotland’s music sector needs transparency, consultation and a clear strategy for how new and independent Scottish music will be supported.
I am grateful to everyone across the sector who has come together on this.
