Urgent SOS – Save the Hyrcanian Forests

The Hyrcanian forests of Iran — one of the oldest and most valuable ecosystems on Earth — have been burning for weeks. The Elit Forest is currently facing a large, ongoing wildfire. These forests do not belong to one nation; they are part of the natural heritage of all humanity and among the most vital “lungs of the Earth” in the region.

Despite the expanding fire, the Islamic Republic has taken no effective, coordinated, or professional action to extinguish the blaze, nor has it issued any request for international assistance. Local residents, environmental activists, and volunteers continue to fight the fire with bare hands and without proper equipment, but the scale of the disaster far exceeds what civilian efforts can manage.

This silence and inaction endanger not only Iran but the global ecosystem.

We call on international organizations, environmental institutions, governments, and the global community to:

1.   Take immediate action to help extinguish the fire.

        2.   Apply international pressure on Iranian authorities to protect the                       Hyrcanian forests.

        3.   Declare this crisis an international environmental emergency.

The destruction of the Hyrcanian forests is not just the loss of a natural region — it is the loss of a piece of Earth’s memory.
 We ask the world to help us, before it is too late.

 نجات جنگل‌های هیرکانی؛ میراث ۴۰ میلیون‌ساله زمین در آتش
هم‌وطنان و همهٔ ساکنان کره زمین، ما از شما درخواست کمک فوری داریم.
 جنگل‌های هیرکانی ایران، یکی از کهن‌ترین اکوسیستم‌های جهان، هفته‌هاست در آتش می‌سوزند. جنگل «الیت» به‌طور گسترده درگیر حریق است، در حالی که حکومت جمهوری اسلامی هیچ اقدام مؤثر، هماهنگ یا حرفه‌ای برای اطفای آتش انجام نداده و حتی هیچ درخواستی برای کمک از جامعه جهانی ارائه نکرده است.
مردم محلی، فعالان محیط‌زیست و داوطلبان با دست‌های خالی و بدون تجهیزات استاندارد در حال مقابله با آتشی هستند که فراتر از توان مردمی است.
این سکوت و بی‌عملی، نه‌تنها جان یک میراث طبیعی جهانی را تهدید می‌کند، بلکه خطری برای اکوسیستم زمین و تمام جاندان این سیاره است.
ما از سازمان‌های بین‌المللی، دولت‌ها و نهادهای محیط‌زیستی درخواست می‌کنیم:
۱. فوراً برای مهار آتش وارد عمل شوند.
 ۲. برای حفاظت از جنگل‌های هیرکانی بر حکومت ایران فشار بین‌المللی وارد کنند.
 ۳. این بحران را به عنوان وضعیت اضطراری زیست‌محیطی جهانی اعلام کنند.
جنگل‌های هیرکانی متعلق به همهٔ مردم زمین‌اند.
