Engineers have estimated that the project will cost close to $7 million to inspect each of the 200 pilings supporting the lighthouse, address any damage, fill gaps with rocks and clay, and encase the foundation in a giant metal sheet to prevent further erosion—all at a depth of 30-40 feet underwater!
