Save the Historic "Little Villa" in Highland Park from Demolition

The Issue

I, as President of the Highland Park Neighborhood Association, along with our VP - Judy Jones, and Secretary - Kelly Marshall decided to start this petition. The "Little Villa" that has graced our neighborhood at 2931 Highland Ave. for decades is under threat of demolition. This house is not just a building; it's a contributing historic structure in our beloved Highland Park. Its architectural beauty and historical significance are irreplaceable.

Developers have plans to replace this gem with an apartment building. While we understand the need for housing, we believe there are other ways to achieve this without destroying historic structures.

According to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, when we tear down old buildings and construct new ones, we waste resources and deny our past (National Trust for Historic Preservation). Furthermore, studies show that neighborhoods with preserved older buildings have higher property values (PlaceEconomics).
