We are delighted to tell you that late yesterday a decision was announced that services are to continue at St Michael’s Church Mount Dinham, and that the plan to convert the church building into flats has been scrapped.
In addition, a proposal has been approved to turn St Michael’s into an independent parish, to allow its traditions of worship, music, liturgy, and service to the community to develop and flourish. This process of creating an independent parish will take a few months, and will help to ensure a positive future for the church and its congregation.
We are very grateful to everyone who signed the petition, and humbled by the level of support that has been shown. This is a sign of the deep and enduring importance of our churches to everyone. We are also grateful to the various authorities for listening to the needs of the church and its congregation, and for acting in everyone’s best interests.
The independence that will be given to St Michael’s will, we have no doubt, bring extra energy and creativity to the church.
