The Issue

PLEASE HELP SAVE THE GREEN BELT ACROSS SOUTH GLOS!

7813 houses are set for greenfield sites in the emerging preferred strategy.

Please sign this petition to say you do not agree with phase 3 of the preferred strategy which will be using Greenbelt land for housing needs.

South Gloucestershire Council has a plan to build 20,490 new houses. Some UK councils are refusing to use Greenbelt.

The region with the smallest percentage of its land designated as Green Belt is the South West with 107,600 hectares, accounting for 4.5% of its total land area. The national average is 12.6%.

By signing this petition you are showing your support for preserving our Green Belt and sending a message to South Gloucestershires Planning Department. We want them to fully utilise Brownfield sites and empty housing opportunities and not to build on Green Belt land. We do not believe they have the exceptional circumstances required to build on the Green Belt.

Low scale organic gentle and natural development on the GreenBelt, such as a barn conversion or the occasional dwelling has been acceptable over the years but this large scale development is not.

Thank you to all who objected to the South Glos council on their emerging strategy. This consultation is now closed.
