Victory! £100mll is the biggest funding for end-of-life care in a generation

Last week the Government announced the biggest funding for end-of-life care in a generation with the £100 million of extra funding. As our petition campaign called for £100mll to be given as extra funding for the hospice sector and if needed to be taken from the FCA income, then whilst  ideally we proffered this to be per year and envisaged it to used as day-to-day funding, when considering the cost challenges being asked of the Gov, we will all take this as a huge success. After all, it was your personal decision to add your name that collectively amongst the 37,000 others which then enabled the Members of Parliament to step forward and add their name and the 40 hospices.

We can honestly say that given it had taken us 4-months to grow to a list of 40 MP's, that it was only a few weeks ago, following our call to action from you all by each emailing your MP to fill their inboxes that enabled us to quickly rise from 40 to a final tally of 100+cross-party MP's (which itself is very rare) and so enabled us ultimately to take our fight direct to 10 Downing Street to prove our point that we indeed had the will of the UK behind us.

So you have proved that the power of a collectives belief in campaigning to help our most vulnerable DOES make a difference and YOU and us have helped to play a part in this success and where some only expecting £10-20mll to be offered. So this extra pressure and huge media coverage incl BBC & ITV filming has helped to ensure the maximum deal possible was offered.

ps someone suggested our next campaign should be for NI exemption for the social care sector & hospices, any ideas welcome?? bearing in mind we have 100+MP's to instantly turn to??
