Save the Esquire theatre from redevelopment!
The Issue
Help save the historic 96 year old Esquire Theatre from redevelopment!
"The Esquire's current lease expires in July 2024 with no option for the theater to renew. Their proposal would turn the historic theater into retail, dining and office space."
The Esquire theatre has been a Colorado institution since 1927. Not only is it one of the few remaining places in Denver to see independent cinema, but it is also home to one of the longest running monthly Rocky Horror Picture Show screenings with a live shadow cast. The Esquire hosts special screenings and is a community meeting place for art lovers in Colorado. The theater is part of the creation of Denver's subculture and history.
The closure of the Esquire would mean another loss for independent cinema in Colorado. The closure of the theater would eliminate monthly Rocky Horror screenings. Losing the Esquire would mean losing a priceless piece of Colorado history. The closure of the theater would be a significant loss within Denver's preservation of culture and art.
Sign the petition and share so we can show how important the Esquire theatre is to Denver's community!
