Notes on Phillipa from the Chicago ACC volunteer handlers:

• March 2, 2023, Transfer Team Page.  “No, we are not pushing bunnies on this page, just dogs, we promise!  It’s just Phillipa and her ridiculously magnificent ears.  Phillipa is a petite girl and very sweet.  She knows sit and takes treats nicely.  She’s a little shy to start with but warms up quickly and will sink into you with all the cuddles.  Phillipa seems like just a baby and we don’t like babies growing up in shelters.Came in as a stray on 2/13/2023 and is available for rescue holds NOW and is transferable on 2/16/23 at 7 PM.  VIDEO:

• April 16, 2023: Disappears from Pet Harbor, the CACC Database, with no warning, along with several others.  Her number gone. Her photograph gone.  Her bio disappeared.  Still gone the morning of the 17th.  No trace.  As if she’d never existed.

But she DID exist.  She played ball and ran joyfully the very few times she was outside of her cage in the two months she was there. She was not extraordinary in the scary, stressful shelter or a “volunteer favorite,” but she could have been the one to warm an adopter’s heart.  She may have been the companion that one family needed. She could have had a new dog brother or sister and grown to a ripe, old age, cherished and beloved.  Oh Phillipa, you mattered.
