It was brilliant to receive the news on Monday that Ibrahim, Amina, Daniel and Helen have been granted visas to come and live in Australia. We are grateful to the many people who helped this come about.

Yesterday, we were still terribly concerned for Ibrahim’s parents, who for many reasons totally beyond their control were unable to come.

But a day is a long time in politics, and since Tuesday afternoon, Ibrahim’s situation (and his parents’) is changing so rapidly, it’s difficult to keep up.

With so many variables, and so much going on, it’s best to see what happens today and we hope we’ll be able to share more definite news soon. We fervently hope it will be good.

For now, please hold your fire - we don't want to risk annoying any allies in this delicate situation.

Thank you so very much for your support. We have come such a long way with your help.

The community of Apollo Bay shows that, in Margaret Mead’s words, we should ….. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
