Next week is a major turning point in our fight to save our beloved Castro Theatre. We could not have gotten here without you. And now we need one more push!

We need you to contact your colleagues, friends, and family and have them join you in calling and writing in. Have a favorite store, restaurant or bar in the Castro? Talk to them too! Let them know how they can help us save the Castro Theatre through the approval of its expanded landmark amendment and a viable, fully-funded alternative to APE.

Upcoming Hearings:

• The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on May 16th at 2:00pm: No public comments will be heard at this meeting, so please show your support by calling and emailing the supervisors beforehand. Let them know exactly how much the Castro Theatre means to you, and urge them to vote to approve the landmark amendment with revised language protecting fixed theatrical seating. Reach each supervisor individually here or altogether here. You can also attend this meeting for visual support!
• The Joint Hearing of the Historic Preservation Commission and San Francisco Planning Commission on May 18, 2023 at 10:00am: At this hearing, APE is set to submit its proposals for approval, which include their plans to remove the orchestra level, installation of four bars, and request a change of use to allow it to be used as a nightclub.  Here, we ask that you also call, email and show up to let the HPC and Planning Commissions know that this decision should be continued until after the landmark amendment has become law.
