Hello, this petition is to save the Byron Center Dog Park from closing.

Unfortunately, at the Byron Township Board meeting on March 10, 2025, a vote was passed to close the dog park due to noise complaints reported by a nearby household (see meeting minutes here). This crucial decision was made without the public's knowledge. Neither a discussion about the dog park nor a vote to close the park was listed in the meeting agenda.

The board's rash decision to hold a vote regarding closing the dog park, a public amenity, goes against the ideals of transparency and equality of community members.

This petition aims to receive as many signatures as possible by the next board meeting on April 14, 2025, to show how many community members would like to keep the dog park. It will also convey that one household will not be permitted to dictate what happens in our community.
