The Issue

Cooling towers are some of the most majestic structures in Britain form and function in harmony  yet exempt from listed status. Even as they become redundant, those that remain deserve to be preserved.

Lets save the power coal power stations and cooling as historic sites, here is a list below,

Willington Power Station

Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station ( lets try least save one cooling tower and save the emergency chimney building   )

The British Steel plant's blast furnaces, cooling towers, chimneys, and conveyors have formed an iconic part of Scunthorpe's skyline for more than 150 years.

The benefits saving these towers as grade listed are

  • British History
  • Culture
  • Lands marks for people and pilots
  • Travel and tourism
  • Respects to the workers
  • Heritage parks to panoramic viewing platforms.

To help maintenance cost turn them into museums, rent out the land, extreme sports centers, giant art installations to music festival sites etc

Please Sign the petition, send message to MP's , Historic England and the government that these are valued parts of our national heritage that deserve to be protected.
