Report of Bridge Information Meeting - 11/16/2016

The NYS DOT Information Meeting was well attended. The officials - mostly Project Director, Richard Filkins, and District Director, Sam Zhou - gave a short presentation of the plans for the replacement of the Crescent Ave. and East High Street bridges. (The powerpoint presentation will be on the NYS DOT website by the end of the week.) The rest of the meeting (1+ hr.) was devoted to questions on the Nelson Ave. Ext. bridge. Many people voiced their concerns. Director Zhou explained the decision making process. He reassured us that the bridge will remain open and that they will spend whatever money is needed to maintain the bridge with annual inspections. He was not, however, able to give us a timeline or reassure us that the bridge will be replaced. They have a 5 year budget in place and the Nelson Ave. Ext. bridge is not in this budget. We will remain vigilant. Thank you to all who attended and to all who have supported our efforts.
