Save the beautiful National Parks of the United States

The Issue

To the United States Department of the Interior and Mr. Doug Burgum.

In February 2025, Trump’s administration with advice from Elon Musk fired about 1000 newly hired employees of the National Park service.

American National parks include 428 parks, historic sites and other attractions. They are the premier vacation destination for over 325 million visitors both from the United States and countries all over the world. Visiting crowds contribute to the local hospitality, restaurant, transportation and entertainment businesses. LOCAL, not huge corporations.

“Fewer staff means shorter visitor center hours, delayed openings and closed campgrounds,″ said Kristen Brengel, senior vice president of government affairs at the National Parks Conservation Association.

The Trump administration’s actions “are pushing an already overwhelmed Park Service to its breaking point,” Brengel said. “And the consequences will be felt in our parks for years.” (credit AP news).

Stop cutting the NPS staff and funding. And don’t even think of selling the National parks off to another billionaire who says he knows how to run them more efficiently. The National parks belong to the people of the United States.

No need to make the National Parks great again. They are just fine! Do not break them!
