Firstly, thank you!!!!!!! What an overwhelming number of supporters (online and locally), thank you for supporting and engaging in efforts to save the Aucoin Family farm. April 12, 2018 seemed to be the most active day for this campaign… several residents of the local community attended the monthly council meeting to voice their concerns & simultaneously the online petition soared by receiving 5000 signatures in one day. The second big day of April 20, 2018 passed without incident, and Gerard and his wife are still on their property with their animals. The Town of Kippens published their monthly meeting minutes online, which confirmed; 1) The Mayor and town councillors all voted in favor of issuance of the stop work and removal orders (March 2018 - Motion #31/18 Motion #32/18 Motion #33/18). 2) The Mayor and town councillors rescinded all orders as an interim measure at the priviged (sic.) meeting (April 2018 - Motion #39/18 Motion #40/18 Motion #41/18). Given that we have achieved success (orders rescinded) - I am declaring victory with the online petition campaign. I recently obtained information from a request under the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act which disclosed; 1) The Town of Kippens or Municipal Affairs & Environment (MAE) have information protected under solicitor client privilege or litigation privilege. 2) There is undisclosed third party interest. 3) The matter cannot be fully decided within the authority of the Farm Industry Review Board and The Farm Protection Act. 4) The Western Regional Appeal Board is the best place for the matter to be heard. 5) The role of MAE is to assist town in proper protocol and procedures. 6) The Town of Kippens drafted a modified stop & removal order for the farm which have NOT been issued to date. 7) The Town of Kippens has made inquiries to MAE pertaining to the amendment process of the town plan. As a family and a community member, I will continue to advocate in support of agriculture use of the families land and will be sharing the content of this petition as appropriate to achieve success.
