The Issue

47.9% of Atlanta is covered by forests. That is why Atlanta is called "The City in the Forest". Sadly though, we are going to have to change that name, because our forests are being cut down, and the 300 acres of forest are on the chopping block in Atlanta. Every day, when I pass through the highway I see more trees being cut down. We use trees from a house to a sheet of paper to chalk. Now that Atlanta is losing trees at the rate of 0.37%, making Atlanta the 5th fastest rate of tree loss in the country, we need to take action soon. You may have heard of a few companies dedicated to helping with the cause such as Trees Atlanta and Defend Atlanta Forest. Help us keep "The Forest in the City". If one person writes a letter to someone in power, it will easily go ignored, however if 100,000 people write a letter, it will have to be recognized. sign this petition to count yourself in.

When this petition reaches 1,000 signatures, we will all write letters. when it gets more, we will reach out. these trees also are home to many of Atlanta's wild animals. A friend of mine once went on a walk through a forest near his home and we went to the middle and the middle of the forest was cut down, so that people did not see what was happening, it was a disgusting thing that should never happen. we should take action at once. Atlanta was once 53% covered in trees in 2000, now it has dropped 5.1%. every day, the situation worsens for those trees. Let us defend what we have left of the Atlanta forest. Help us plant trees to replace the ones that were lost, to defend these trees that can be more than 100 years old and let us protect them. Let us defend what matters to us. Share this to people you know to join in to do what is right. Contribute to this cause if you can. share this petition with your friends and family if you can do that people can see what our goal. So help us do what is right for the greater good.
