Save the Arts in Santa Ana
The Issue
SAVE THE ARTS: The City of Santa Ana is eliminating its annual Investing in the Artist grant program! If you have received a grant, benefited from these grants, and/or simply hope they continue to beautify our historic City, please WRITE YOUR CITY COUNCILMEMBERS.

For 5 years, the City of Santa Ana has invested in over 60 art projects all over the city funding over 100 local artists and art organizations. This annual grant benefits our residents in many ways, from Beautifying our Neighborhoods, increasing our Quality of Life and Feeding our Spirits with Poetry, Books, Free Concerts, Theater, Films & Cultural Events. Let this blossoming of our creative community continue as we celebrate the best Santa Ana has to offer!
Additionally, Arts in Orange County are a mega-million-dollar industry, creating thousands of jobs, generating global commerce, and driving regional tourism. The City has already invested over $100,000 in an Arts Master Plan and has barely begun implementing it. The City already funds the Bower’s Museum 2 million dollars annually. Downtown Inc gets over $150,000, and the City has invested millions into the Artists Village over the past 40 years. The Investing in the Artist grant is the only support local artists in our community have received from our City after decades of neglect. Every other city around us (Anaheim, Irvine, Costa Mesa, Orange, Tustin, Garden Grove) has a solid arts infrastructure with municipal support. Isn’t it time we, the County Seat of Orange County, have the same investment in our residents?
An active Art Commission with an annual Art Grant is the least the City can do to provide Santa Ana with an improved Quality of Life, and access to the multi-billion-dollar regional arts economy.

WRITE AN EMAIL to our Mayor, City Council, City Manager and Clerk.
TELL THEM the impact Santa Ana's annual Arts Grants have had on you and that you want this support to continue.
