Art Gallery - length of current closure substantially reduced

Your support is already achieving great changes!

Today the Palmerston North City Council issued a press release about the Art Gallery, which was to have been closed from 1 July for "up to 10 months".

Due to concern expressed by the arts community at such a lengthy closure, Council has now brought forward the proposed reopening to end September. This is a full seven months earlier than originally scheduled by Te Manawa.

Your support helped to reduce the length of the closure, and the doors to the Art Gallery will open again in just a few weeks.

This is a great first step forward. However, there is still a journey ahead. The Art Gallery continues to operate under the same management, and the building itself may yet be demolished (demolition remains one of several options currently under consideration, as part of a potential redevelopment of the site on which the Art Gallery stands).

Please help to keep the conversation alive, and encourage others to sign this petition, to save the Art Gallery in Palmerston North.

I’m happy to respond to any questions, so feel welcome to contact me by email at art@zimmerman.co.nz, or via the contact page on my website: http://www.zimmerman.co.nz/contact
