Thank you so much to our friends at The Bird Center of Michigan for sharing our petition along with some important information about conservation and the Arb! Give this message a boost by sharing their post (link below) or chatting with friends about these fun facts.

"Nichols Arboretum, known as “The Arb” to many locals, has served as an essential habitat and migration pathway for over 200 unique species of birds. Its over 120 acres of varied habitat provides a protected spot for many animals and is a favorite spot for birders.

The conservation of this area is critical, but a proposed elevated monorail is set to be built, running through a densely wooded area and fragmenting the continuous forested habitat. The Arb supports a large and diverse population of trees that shelter migrating warblers and are home to many other species. Not only will many trees need to be cut down for the construction of the line, but the noise and light pollution the monorail will create will further isolate the fragmented patches of habitat, creating another challenge for our already threatened native species.

The protection of Nichols Arboretum is crucial to protecting both migratory and non-migratory bird species in Michigan, so we urge you to join us and over 5000+ others who have already signed by visiting https://www.change.org/p/save-the-arb to petition the construction of the elevated monorail."

Thank you to Dominick Fenech, bird lover and photographer.

We are grateful to our friends at the Bird Center of Michigan

In case it has not been clear: We love Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum
