The issue

I feel as though YouTube is unfit to be on the list of social media being banned for under 16s. I am a 14 year old student who has recently been getting into content creation and animation and in the making of my first video, I get notified that YouTube will be joining the list of the social media being banned on December 10th 2025. This doesn't just affect young people trying to get into content creation like me but also people who are trying to learn as I along with many other people have learnt hobbies, skills and life lessons from the website and people coming home from a tiring day of school wanting to unwind by watching the videos of their beloved content creators.

One of the only reasons I got into art, gaming, sports and got to be part of caring communities is because of YouTube and so I feel if YouTube is banned it would cause a lot of children in Australia to be stuck doing things that they are impassionate about or leave them stuck with an issue, whether it be in a device, in understanding a math problem or even outing ideas. YouTube is known to be one of the biggest platforms of learning, from gaming tips to soccer shots, most things you can name, YouTube can help you. This can help people who don't like socializing but would like to learn something they heard about.

In conclusion, We must take action in putting a halt to this ban, specifically on YouTube, as if the ban happens it would be devastating towards people under 16 trying to learn new things or express themselves through content creation.
