بهدف التشبيك لحماية حيوان فقمة الراهب المتوسطيّة على مستوى الحوض الشرقي للبحر الأبيض المتوسط،
بدأ التعاون بين حملة Save Our Seal ومنظّمة SAD-AFAG التركيّة الرائدة عالميّاً بمجال حماية هذا الحيوان المهدّد بالانقراض وموائله.
ففي ١٠ أيار ٢٠٢٤ توجّه وفد من حملة Save Our Seal وجمعيّة TERRE Liban إلى تركيا لمدة ٧ أيّام للقاء منظّمة SAD-AFAG بهدف إقامة اجتماعات للتعارف والتنسيق في سبيل تعزيز التعاون بين المنظمتين.
وقد شارك الوفد في زيارات ميدانيّة إلى ٤ موائل لفقمة الراهب المتوسطيّة على الشواطئ الشرقية لبحر إيجي في بلدات Foça و Karaburun لاكتساب المعرفة وتقييم عمليّات المراقبة والبحوث العلميّة وتحليل محتوى معدّات المراقبة. كما نظمت زيارات لصيادين محليّين في بلدة Yeniliman للإطلاع على دورهم الفعال في مجال حماية الفقمة.
وقد قام الوفدين بزيارة أعضاء من المجلس الأعلى لإدارات مدينة إزمير الكبرى ورئيسة بلديّة فوتشا Foça الذين تعهدوا باستكمال سياسة حماية فقمة الراهب المتوسطية وموائلها وأبدوا استعدادهم للتعاون مع الجانب اللبناني في هذا المجال.
اختتمت الزيارة في مركز Foça للبحوث البحريّة بورشة عمل للتشاور والاتفاق على خارطة طريق للمضي قدما بهذا التعاون لا فيه من مصلحة حماية الحياة البحريّة والشواطئ في الحوض الشرقي للبحر الأبيض المتوسط.
Within the aim of networking for the protection of the Mediterranean monk seal in the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea, cooperation has commenced between the Save Our Seal campaign and the globally leading Turkish organization SAD-AFAG in the field of protecting this endangered species and its habitats.
On May 10, 2024, a delegation from Save Our Seal campaign and TERRE Liban association headed to Türkiye for a 7-day visit to meet with SAD-AFAG organization to hold introductory and coordination meetings aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two organizations.
The delegation participated in field visits to 4 habitats of the Mediterranean monk seal on the eastern shores of the Aegean Sea in the towns of Foça and Karaburun to gain knowledge, evaluate monitoring operations and scientific research, and analyze the content of monitoring equipment. Visits were also organized to local fishermen in the town of Yeniliman to learn about their effective role in monk seal protection.
The delegations also visited members of the Council of the Greater Izmir Localities and the Mayor of Foça, all whom pledged to continue the policy of protecting the Mediterranean monk seal and its habitats and expressed readiness to cooperate with the Lebanese side in this field.
The visit concluded at the Foça Marine Research Center with a consultation workshop and agreement on a roadmap to further this cooperation for the mutual benefit of marine life and coasts in the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea.
