Save Teachers for our Students at Jefferson Middle School!
The Issue
Please sign this petition and join us at the April 29th San Gabriel Unified School Board Meeting at 7:00pm to protest the cuts and to demand that the School Board invest in our students and SAVE TEACHERS at Jefferson Middle School.
We, the undersigned students, parents, teachers and community members, respectfully urge you to reconsider any proposed reduction in teaching positions at Jefferson Middle School.
Our teachers are not just employees- they are mentors, motivators, and the backbone of our educational community. Each teacher plays a critical role in shaping students' futures, building trusting relationships, and delivering the high-quality education that Jefferson is known for.
What We're Losing:
- 2 6th grade positions
- 1 7th grade Math position
- 1 Spanish position
- 1 PE position
Cutting Positions Will:
- Increase class sizes, reducing student learning
- Create Overcrowded PE classes, causing safety issues and concerns
- Disrupt students' academic and emotional support systems
- Lead to long-term consequences for both student achievement and staff morale
- Eliminate 3 Sections of AVID
- Overload one teacher to teach Spanish Dual Immersion 6th, 7th and 8th grades, Spanish 1a, Spanish 1b and Spanish Heritage
How We Can Preserve Positions:
We strongly believe balancing the budget should not come at the expense of our children's education and our teacher's livelihoods. We want SGUSD and the San Gabriel School Board to make our schools a priority and spend the funds to preserve positions. San Gabriel students, parents and teachers can't wait! SGUSD - do what is right for San Gabriel students and teachers!
Sincerely,
San Gabriel Teachers Association
