Dear supporter, Thank you for helping us reach 12,500 signatures for this petition. In July the Forest Department of Sarawak (FDS) informed us that the Miri Crocodile Farm had been ordered to make improvements to the sun bear enclosures and the farm were warned to stop photography sessions with the a baby sun bear. A month later during our checks we found no changes and the photography sessions were still happening. Therefore, local NGO Friends of the Orangutans Malaysia (FOTO) wrote to the Sarawak state chief minister to complain of this. This month the FDS once again informed us that improvements had been made but gave no evidence. And no concrete proof that the cruel and exploitative photography sessions had been stopped. The FDS' reply has been attached in this update. FOTO and us have written in response to the FDS and we continue to demand that the bears be transferred to the Matang Wildlife Sanctuary and we are waiting for a reply. We will keep you posted.
