The issue

Melbourne's live music scene and culture are under threat with the closure of iconic live music venues across the state. Our latest beloved venue, The Vineyard St Kilda, is a part of history, home of emerging artists, music lovers, and the community for over 20 years and they need your help!

The local council has issued an eviction notice after demanding the venue provide development plans for an upgrade. After several years of negotiations, community input, and announcing the go-ahead. Then Covid hit and the council announced plans were on hold due to the pandemic. Fast forward they have now changed their mind with no clear reason and issued an eviction notice.

After being ordered by the judge to negotiate, the council proposed a renovation that is not commercially viable and will see the venue shut down by June this year.

The local council has stated in the media their commitment to saving live music in St Kilda. This is their opportunity to stand by their commitment and we need your immediate help to hold them accountable!

Thanks to the community for your support and our legendary committee.
