📢 ST HELIER MATERNITY: NOVEMBER IS APPROACHING. WE NEED ANSWERS.

Alexandra BrowneSutton, ENG, Royaume-Uni

Our community-led petition has grown to nearly 2,500 signatures in just over a week. 💗

Yesterday, Siobhain McDonagh MP shared an update stating that hospital officials will meet in early November to consider the future of key services at St Helier, including maternity.

She also reported meeting maternity staff who want to retain the services they provide and feel their concerns haven't been heard.

We welcome her involvement and the growing attention this issue is receiving.

But with November fast approaching, we believe local residents, families and maternity staff deserve urgent clarity.

We have publicly asked our local representatives, including Siobhain McDonagh, Bobby Dean and Luke Taylor, to explain:

  1. What specific action is being taken to protect safe, accessible maternity care at St Helier?
  2. What evidence is available about the impact of any proposed relocation on emergency access, journey times and neighbouring hospitals capacity?
  3. How will residents, expectant parents and maternity staff be meaningfully involved before decisions are made?
  4. What exactly will be considered at the November meeting, and when will the public receive an update?
  5. Are options for retaining and improving maternity services at St Helier being fully explored?

This campaign isn't about political parties or competing petitions.

It's about ensuring our community is heard and that the future of maternity care is determined through a transparent, evidence-based process.

We welcome petitions. We welcome public support. But we also need meaningful engagement, clear answers and accountability.

I am still awaiting a response to my latest follow-up with my local MP and will continue seeking answers on behalf of this campaign.

To everyone who has signed, shared, followed or spoken up — thank you.

Nearly 2,500 voices. One community. One shared concern.

Please keep sharing our petition and encouraging others to get involved.

💗 Our community. Our maternity services.
