Save St. Angela Merici School (SAM) Bronx, NY
The Issue
Since 1904, Saint Angela Merici School, located at 266 East 163rd Street in the Bronx, has provided a quality, safe, Catholic education for Bronxites. The school has instilled the values of integrity, faith, and servitude for generations of families.
On February 15, 2023, the Archdiocese of New York and the Office of the Superintendent of Schools announced the closure of twelve Catholic schools, with Saint Angela Merici School among the morbid list. This leaves parents and children unsure of their educational future.
Saint Angela Merici School is a second home for students, a place that provides a safe and affordable alternative for parents to guarantee that their child receives a quality education at more than half the cost of independent schools in the New York City metro area.
The impending closure of Saint Angela Merici School now leaves parents and guardians with few options for an accessible Catholic education. Should Saint Angela Merici School close, parents and their children will have to walk or take public transportation to other institutions that are more than a mile away. This jeopardizes the safety of our families.
Saint Angela Merici School is a community of devoted teachers, students, and households of all backgrounds. Our community consists of lay educators and parishioners, all joining Saint Angela Merici School in their mission to serve our neighborhood. With the closure of Saint Angela Merici School, life-long relationships will be disbanded, leaving a great void in our neighborhood.
We are calling on all alumni, parents, parishioners, and community members to get involved and support us in saving this community’s beacon of hope, a school that has played such an integral role for us and our community.

At this time we are not requesting donations.
